"Tiger", "Fire" and all that other zaney, marketing lingo has those specific "phases" put up at a wopping $70 for babies, direct from breeder. From a store, you're going to pay anywhere from $90 to $125.00.

If you, yourself, have bred these and are looking to get rid of them, you can expect from $45 to $70... Be extremely thrilled with $50, selling to a store. Sell them privately and you are guaranteed to get the higher end of the spectrum.

If $70 from a breeder, I wouldnt expect less than $140 from the pet store!!!

Most pet stores wouldn't want to offer you that kind of cash, considering they turn the animal once more after it's in their possession. That is what they call markup.
The store itself would attempt to sell for $140. They can buy cresteds direct from breeder or supplier for $70, they aren't going to buy the same thing off "joe blow" for $140. There's no point, for them.
Like I said, sell them privately and you're bound to get more of the type of price you're looking for.
You may get lucky selling to a store, but it won't happen often. Stores themselves have to make a buck. It's unfortunate, but that's how the world works.

I don;t think he meant you could sell them to a pet store for 140, i beleive he meant the cheapest a pet store would sell them (not on sale) would be that 140 (ie double what they paid) but hey if you can sell them to a pet store for $50 thats an easy 50 instead of waiting for someone to privatly buy one

how much would normal or a dalmation typically cost?

Anywhere in the range of 80-125 dollars, prices on crested morphs are a bit weird because two buck skin cresties can hatch out a vivid red. Some people sell according to morph while others sell at the same price.

Snowsnake,
Can i see those pics, im currently looking for a dark fire with the contrast of orange/yellow on their back.

Thanks

Where are you shopping? I have never seen a crested sell THAT cheap. Are you talking in US dollars?

I have seen anywhere from $150 - 250. I bought my very first crested at $250. Which I know was SO expensive, but I didn't know better at the time.

Well I guess it depends on the age too. I only sell my crested at 4 months unless the buyer and I make an aggreement. I like to make sure my babies are top notch before they go.

A pet store offered to buy my babies off of me for $85 each. He also just offered another guy $90 each. I personally don't want to sell my babies to a pet store to get neglected (depending on the pet store and I am in no way insulting people that do). I know you can get over whelmed with babies and have no choice.

I'm just curious to see this babies being sold for that price in Canada. So let me know.

Thanks,
Liz

I got my pair from Tarzet for $80 each, they were one month old when I got them. I think you can get a baby/juvenille crestie for $120 or under easily with a breeder.

Moonlight Pets,
I agree age does play a factor in price but usually you can find juvi for under $150, you just got to look hard enough :D

-Steve-

P.S post some pics of your crestie that is for sale!!!

the $90 was canadian dollars, from the link i posted, the reptile woman her name is cindy something.
Moonlight, you are selling? cause i am looking :)

edit: i see your site says you have one available, and that you cant let it out of your care until sep, that is perfect for me, because i wouldnt be ready to get it till sep/oct..

if the price is right (i need a job!!!! ) then im definatly very interested.

I actually have 3 available, but one just hatched and the other is only 2 months. I am having trouble uploading my site right now. :(

I personally disagree with selling a baby crested at one month. I sell at 3 - 4 months just to make sure they are 100% healthy. Again I do not mean to insult any other breeders. It saves both the breeder and customer problems in the future I believe.

If you are interested got to the Canadian Ad section and look at my post under Lizards. There is more info there. I will not ship anywhere it is too stressful.

This baby is unsexed and I accept non-refundable $50 deposits. I was hoping to sell in August but I can hold him until Sept. Since the baby will be 3 - 4 months that is why he or she is a bit more in price.

I actually bought 2 of my breeders off of Cindy. She is very nice. I also purchased that BD off of her too when he was just a baby. I find it very strange that she would charge more for herbaby BDs then her cresteds since BDs lay WAY more eggs, but it is up to her

Thanks for everyone's posts!

are they all $150 or only the 3 month old? how much are the hatchlings? (when you do sell them, since i know you like to wait)

I agree with you Moonlight Pets, only selling cresties when they are nice, strong and healthy. I saw at least 6 cresties in a pet store that just looked like they hatched, they were under the age of 2 weeks forsure. Hopefully someone buys them soon and takes proper care of them.

Well since I don't sell any younger than 3 - 4 months yes they are all $150. Unless I get a very unique colour, which may be a bit more. I will not sell anything younger than 3 months UNLESS I have a 'special' agreement with the buyer and may sell at 2 months. Though the price will not change for younger babies because it is not fair to others who are buying at 3 - 4 months.

Hope that helps a bit.

Thank you for your support. That is horrible about the hatchlings. I hope they find good homes as well.

Thanks!

I bought mine for about 100$, a very nice colour (red tiger, but it changes colours A LOT, it's wierd....sometimes after a shed it's bright yellow)...it was about 2 weeks old when I was arranging to buy it.

I got my crestie from a good breeder with a really good reputation on this site and others :)...it was shipped well, arrived fine and healthy and I was very pleased. Still, I wasn't totally experienced in buying it, so I wasn't sure how old it should be but it doens't bug me much.

She's about to pass the one year mark :)

My $150 is in Canadian dollars. I hope that was clear. So that is about $100 US. I think that is pretty average for a 3 - 4 month. I've seen on average for this age anywhere from $120 - 250 from a PRIVATE breeder

I saw one in a pet store AWHILE BACK for $600 CDN. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?? It ended up selling for $300 - 400. It was an adult greenish gray male.

I guess that it is hard to give or talk about an average price because there are just so up and down depending on the breeder.

WOW 150! Expensive...I know pet stores who sell 3-4 month olds for 125.00.

I bought all three of mine here around the 1 month mark or possibly younger. All were cheap and under 90. I got a "fire" morph incubated for female for 45. And another sought after morph for nice price. And the other one I got for about 35.

Aaron: $35/$45? That's very cheap. Where did u get them?

Moonlight Pets
08-01-03, 09:28 AM
Maybe I will lower my price to $125 CDN and see how it goes. As for cheap geckos, sometimes cheaper isn't always better if you know what I mean. I would rather pay a bit more and KNOW I'm get a healthy crested. Of course I'm not saying that every cheap gecko isn't looked after or health, but a purchaser must be careful and sure.

Thanks

Alan, the one for 35 was with a trade for a 35 dollar animal. Maybe it is worth 40. So that is how I got that and the 45 came from a local breeder I know. His prices are relatively good. I try and match his, lol.

BOTH of mine were healthy and specially my fire for the 45 bucks. I knew when it hatched waited a few weeks to make sure it was all fine then bought it.
