Hi! Welcome to sSnakeSs.

How is your BRB doing with the aspen and glass tank? I'd imagine it's not so great for humidity.

To be honest about my knowledge of snakes its minimal. I did what i tell peolpe not to do with dogs all the time it was a impulse buy went in uneducated and the pet store people sent me away with the wrong stuff . I have had snakes in the past but i also had a neighbor at that time that had over 30 snakes gtp i think do they have fangs to a 16 foot albino Burmese python he had a giant lizard looked like a Komodo dragon that he would walk on a leash lol but dont have him no more for help so hopefully you guys can help me out. Ive had a hell of a time trying to get the temperature and humidity right temp too high and humidity to low think you could point me in the right direction.

The highest the humanity has been is 50 percent and with the temp at around 83 thats with the black light not the daylight.

Welcome to the forum. I don't know a lot about BRB's, but I know that your enclosure isn't even close to ideal for one lol. Hopefully someone who has experience with this species will chime in and help.

Lol well i guess i will have to start from square one, thinks dude at the pet store and myself lol. I guess that means i will have to use this enclosure for something else.

You can make it work for now, with some modifications. A tub will probably work better for you though.

50% is too low. Your snake will become dehydrated and have shedding issues. I would do some research ASAP.

You definitely need to replace that gauge with a digital one though. Walmart has Accurite digital temp/humidity $9, and they're really accurate. How are you measuring your temps in the cage? You'll need an infrared heat gun to measure your hot spot, and heat in the cage must be thermostatically controlled. I'd use either under tank heat or a ceramic heat element.

Your humidity needs to be around 75-80%

Do a search on YouTube for Brazilian Rainbow Boa enclosures and care. You'll see some proper setups on there.

The guage i have in there came with the "kit" lol its temp/ humidity. Thank you guys for the help hope my little snakes ok untell tomorrow. If i can add one thing to this that is educational on my part is ypu have to be careful with infrared heat guns because of the drastic change in temp they read with different colors. The ones that i use at work are calibrated for a certain color. I have cought a few peoples machinery on its way to burning up because they where relying on the heat gun.

Interesting. Could you elaborate on the heat guns being calibrated for certain colors?

No another company calibrates are temp guns for the color we use for paint the majority of the time.if you would like me to post somethings on thermal radiation and or how color can effect diff waves and what not i can provide some reading.

Ok so i made some changes ,still need to go get and thermostatically controled heating element or pad can someone point me in the right direction cant find one at the pet stores around here is this some thing that could be had at a homedepot maybe. Changed the substrate to fir and sphagnum peat moss. Made a hide out of a small Tupperware container and buried it and put some damp paper towels in there. I am about to go to homedepot and get something to cover the mesh on the top of the enclosure so the humidity is still high hope i can get this to work good untell i can build a nice enclosure and thanks for the help.

Nice changes, however I would make sure it's not too humid now. Substrate looks a bit wet.

Thermostats that I recommend are herpstat from spider robotics, vicarious electronics, and helix.

You can get cheaper ones at a hardware/gardening store such as hygrofarm, ranco...etc

You won't find a thermostatically controlled heating pad anywhere that I know of. You will however find thermostats and heating elements seperately if thats what you meant. Heating pads, I don't recommend the zoomed ones. If you have a CVS or Walgreens near by, they sell heating pads with low, medium and high settings that are much bigger and I haven't had any overheating issues with mine. They are also about 20 bucks for one 3 times the size of zoomeds 20 dollar one.

I recommend the hygrofarm, although I've only ever found them online and I have homedepot, lowes, tractor supply, etc. in my area. 30 bucks and free shipping you can't go wrong really

I was thinking about one of those heating pads but was not sure. Ended up with a zilla heat pad

Well when i went too home depot to get another thermostat and some lexan for the cage ,on my way out i seen some of those rubbermade tubs so i just grabbed one of them instead. Its 24 1/2 x 17 3/4x13 3/8. Where should i put the holes?

That log hide is WAY too big for your little snake. Hides need to be very snug in order for the snake to feel secure.

Here's one of my snake tub setups. You can see where I put the holes in mine. The humidity is sitting very low because I had the lid off for some cleaning before I took the pic and I rarely mist the enclosure since its for a yearling Dumeril's boa, which doesn't need extremely high humidity. Its usually around 60%....70%+ with misting during sheds.
