I would like to see a few of your milk/king snake hides. If any one feels like posting some pics. Looking for ideas from the experts! TIA!

I'm not expert, but my kings have been doing great in these setups.

My speckled king hides. In the corner is the zilla basking platform and underneath it I have a smaller plastic hide where it gets the hottest, and then it can chill outside the small hide still underneath the basking platform to get a few degrees cooler but still in the high 80's. To the side I just stacked some cork bark to create extra cover. On the walls are some magnetic hides which I find my king hiding in at night. She's almost always there when I am about to feed her so I don't have to worry about her ingesting substrate.

My adult cali king's hides.

More simple. I just put a warm hide and a cool hide, with some cork bark over them to block out the daylight. UTH under the right one and a very low watt light bulb over it as well. It just helps warm the ambient air temperature.

Oh forgot to ask how large is that enclosure?

Oh forgot to ask how large is that enclosure?

The first enclosure is just a plain old 10 gallon critter cage(I think Zilla makes it) with a sliding screen top.

The second enclosure is a 24 in x 18 in x 12 in tall Exo terra enclosure.

Just saying, but I'll be moving them into plastic enclosures soon. The glass enclosures are fine for now but I'm not sure I will be able to heat them up adequately during the Winter(it gets cold here and I can't leave the room heater on all day).

I enclosed my king snake's half log and created a small hole on one end and he definitely uses it ! For hide #2 I put a small cardboard box in for testing and he crawls into it and flips it over lol! 3 times in a row! Had to weigh it down!

My kingsnake doesn't even use his hides! He just likes to hide under the glass on one side..which was a waste of a medium heat pad for me! Anyone wanna help me with hides which he might use more often?

I hate my phone it always puts them in upside down! The coconut is on his cool side and the big rock hide has his heat mat under it

Then this rock hide

I think maybe smaller darker hides with a smaller entry would help IMO

I think I might cover the front of the hide, I may give his a army tank hideaway I have for my BP cause he seems a bit big for it lol my BP already has a hide he likes which is a skull :)

In the wild, I always find small ones in stacked rocks about 8-12" off of the ground.

i have a few of the half log hides, but mostly i just use large, heavy flat pieces of wood (i used to be able to get sawmill scraps at work), about 7" by 14" and less than an inch thick with irregular edges; whenever i am field herping i find snakes under flat things liek that so i figured they must be good for something!

I also use water bowls (like for a dog or cat) with a raised gap underneath that the snake can hide in. They come in different sizes; i got mine from kmart for less than 5$.
