What is this on my Coastal?

So there's this bump kind of thing on the left side of her mouth. it doesn't seem to bother her but I'm just curious about it! There's the picture of the bump and just a picture I took of her from above her tank :laugh:

You want to make sure it's not the start of mouth rot. If so a vet visit will be needed. If you have any question about how to open her mouth and check just ask it's not hard at all.

Not an expert on reptile medicine by any means, but agreeing with marvelfreak, I'd be afraid of the beginning stages of stomatitis. Carefully check the area of concern of gently restraining the snake and lifting the gum line around the area for swelling and redness....be ready for a vet visit ASAP.

I checked it seems a lot like the early stages of mouth rot, and I'll get her to the vet asap but do you have any experiences with home remedies for treating mouth rot? I've heard of peroxide or bedadine (sp?) and stuff like that so just wondering if any of that would work or not. Thanks for the help guys. I'm also thinking it may be some kind of bacterial abscess maybe...it looks kind of like an inflammation or red sore? Looked at it when she yawned I'll open up her mouth later and actually check it. forget home remedies, get a specialist herp vet to diagnose the problem and give you a treatment

It could be that the substrate has caused the damage, I had a corn years ago on a similar substrate (long and thin pieces), and a 'splinter' did allot of damage to his mouth when it became lodge alonge the gumline, he didnt recover because I had no idea it had happened until it was too late for treatment to help him. In the meantime I'd suggest getting rid of that substrate, snakes dont have the right shape tounge to remove a splinter if it gets stuck along its gum line, use chips rather than splintered/strips

Take a pen and get her by the head and carefully open her mouth have some one help you.
Shine a flash light into her mouth and look for a tooth caught on the gum. If you see one slowly slide the pen to the back of the mouth. This will 90% of the time get a caught tooth unstuck. If it not a tooth i take her to a vet to get a proper diagnosis and meds.

Thanks for the responses guys I'll get her to a herp vet soon:) I did open her mouth and nothing seemed to be stuck. It just looks like a blister or inflammation on that side of her mouth.

suprised you havent been already! if its an infection it needs sorting before it does to much tissue damage, or spreads (septicemia)

Didn't have the money to take her in before...dad got payed today so we're getting her in this week. I'll be a lot more at ease when she's there. But thanks guys!

a trip to a good reptile vet would give you more insight as to whats going on

Thanks Shaun! :) I'm getting her in the soonest spot which is unfortunately not until the 25th but we'll get her there! Who knows, by then she may or may not have shed :D

So just as an update, we took her to the vet last Thursday. She had a bump on her back as well and both are just bacterial infections. we (my dad and I) have to give her one shot every three days for 24 days. We just did the first one last night so only 7 more to go! But just thought I'd keep you updated :)

glad to hear shes got treatment :) dont dismiss a bacterial infection, they can kill quickly if left untreated

Thanks! I know I'm still not gonna be completely calm till she's all healed up but this puts me more at ease.
