Thinking About a New Rat Colony
As some of you know, this has been the second week in a row I could not get what I needed so I'm thinking about making a road trip with a friend of mine for the purpose of acquiring several hundred breeder rats. This might happen very soon because my snakes need to eat and since I do have rat breeding experience, this to me sounds like a perfect fit.

Re: Thinking About a New Rat Colony
We found a place that has 50 smalls and 50 mediums available. That will give us a good start to getting a good size colony going. I'm feeling better about this already.

Do it.. No reason not to. I can't wait until I can breed my snake food again. It makes life so much easier.

You're right. In our operation we had as much as 650 rats and 200 mice at our peak. Now that we're splitting up, it's time for me to do this on my own.

Re: Thinking About a New Rat Colony
The soon to be ex and her mother is in control of that colony and had allowed the continued high demand to deplete that colony to the point that I can no longer get what I need when I need it. My snakes need to eat so...

Sorry to hear about the split Gary. I hope all is well.
I was going to call you in the next week or two and see what you had available, but sounds like I better hold off and be content with my latest order from Rodentpro.
If I remember right, you build your own rodent racks, correct? I've been contemplating starting a small colony, and would consider hiring you to build one at a fair price to you.

Re: Thinking About a New Rat Colony
I wish you were near me, I would give you a pile of free breeding adults, my numbers are way up and I need to get rid of some, or buy a Boa that can take jumbos.

It's all good. She and I are still friends.
It's going to be a while until their stock gets back up to par. Also about the racks. No it wasn't me who built them.
