Of course snakes can survive the winter's. Snakes will live way up into Canada too. They all hibernate when it gets cold. NJ has timber rattlers for sure, but without searching for specifics I"d bet there'd be gartersnakes, black rat snakes, probably milksnakes, racers, and water snakes. Of course you'd also have newts and salamanders, a tonne of anurans, and several turtle species as well.
Google it, I"m sure you'll find more

Well of course there are snakes in Jersey. You could most likely get a list and help from the Game Commission (or whatever the dept may be called) by emailing them.
The Pine Barrens are notorious and much written about. The pine snakes, and kings from the area are some of the most beautiful in their range.
Read up. Hit the library or search online for specifics.
I feel there should be garters, waters, black rats, green snakes, red-bellied snakes, among the others already mentioned. You can get info while you wait for the snow to thaw up there! lol!
