Wow, yeah, I don't think I've ever seen them for sale before. But man, they are cool.

Re: My High blue boy...Dial up..no!
Occasionally you see them on Kingsnake, but the first one I got was so thin that he died within the week. He was too weak to eat. The female was gravid when she was shipped to me but laid slugs and then next female arrived dead with two slugs laid in transit and two still in her. Very sad. Got the male finally and he is thriving and my newest female came from Dan. We're still feeling out how to do things. I keep them like the chondros, only in the smaller cages of the cornsnakes. They are only about 24-30" long. The females are larger than the males. One of them ate from my hand this evening. I think it was the female. I wasn't able to see her tail though, so I'm not certain. She's missing part of hers.

Re: My High blue boy...Dial up..no!
Shaun and Hillary: Thanks! Barney is a favorite and was bred to Tempest this year. I have 3 eggs about to hatch.
Geckogal: I find slugs and then I freeze them to last thru the winter when everything goes dormant here. I haven't been able to get them to take canned snails as yet, but there's very few types out there and most are in bits instead of whole. They take f/t slugs just fine and I can either find or purchase live snails that they eat. I don't know what you mean about breed with snails? Do you mean breed snails for food..then yes you can, but I don't. If you mean breed them with snails? No!

Re: My High blue boy...Dial up..no!
Afraid not. I looked online for some of the info, but I didn't keep the snails long. I use slugs more often

Re: My High blue boy...Dial up..no!
Well, I can post one here if no one cares....This one was taken indoors with flash so it's not as nice as the outdoor stuff.

You can also see him here on my site. He was a lot younger then, but just as cute:

Re: My High blue boy...Dial up..no!
They are a lot of fun and pretty mellow animals. At least mine is. You have to keep reminding yourself that they can hurt you so you don't take shortcuts. When they don't strike at you all the time, it's easy to get complacent. A no-no when you're working with hots.
