Lucy!
I have a small king snake named Lucy! She is about 17 inches long, I just got her about 2 weeks ago and have fallen absolutely in love.
I have her in a 55 gallon tank and I have decorated it in a Halloween theme. I was wondering if anyone else has ever decorated a habitat to match seasons or holidays.

I think you have to have a few posts before uploading pics. We have some very cool king snakes and keepers here!

Re: Lucy!
She loves her Lego house! The back wall opens up so I dont scare her if I get her out of it. I had aspen in her tank, but she ate a couple pieces and it scared me so I changed to the repticarpet, that is what the guy at Petco told me to do.

I don't put much stock in pet store advice when it comes to reptiles. Do what works for you but I've not heard or read many positive endorsements of repticarpet.

Re: Lucy!
I would switch back to a normal substrate, like aspen. Repticarpet harbors bacteria and SUCKS to clean. Some snakes like to burrow and it helps hold some humidity.
It's ok if they swallow some. I feed in my snake's enclosure, I'm sure she's swallowed some. Never harmed her.
And I agree with El-Ziggy, pet stores can sometimes be sketchy. You never know who you're getting advice from ~_~ One woman at a local store told me that a normal ball python was a rare dwarf boa (even though it said 'ball python' on the enclosure).
Gorgeous snake, though
