I can kind of relate, because a wild Texas ratsnake is a mean critter, but I can pass mine around and kiss it on the lips.
Thankfully idiots like you mentioned are few and far between and most go under the name of, bite statistics

Thanks mate, and couldn't agree with you more

Plenty of those around, they just rip the teeth out of the Cobra's mouth. It's quite common practice in India and surrounding countries. There are plenty videos around of little kids playing with those serpents.

Gentle handling my ***. You piss off a cobra, you going to have a bad day.

Can't agree more. I've been handling venomous snakes for more than 35yrs, including many different kinds of cobras and there is not one I would trust to kiss on the mouth.

I have not found a woman yet that can tongue kiss like a snake. I'm a weird lonely man. LOL

Re: Show off

I recently read an article about a Russian guy that kept a king cobra. He had a real rapport with that snake and it was puppy dog tame. He would free handle it and allow it to hang out on his bed.

Then the inevitable happened. The snake had a bad moment and bit him for the first (and last) time. He died while his girlfriend was holding him waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

Complacency is lethal. I think you have the right idea, Dave.

While I agree that it was a stupid kid handling his (juvenile) cobra in this way, he didn't die from the venom but anaphylactic shock. He was dead in a few minutes. Venom acts fast, but not that fast, certainly not when bitten on the hand (which btw was during feeding).
