Anticipating the Resner's first shed

Well, It had been mentioned in another post that Resner's color may be due to shedding getting close. Well, they were right. When I got him out this morning his eyes were very milky looking and he wasn't him self (personality wise). I put him back in the cage immediatly, but it took him awhile before he got moving. My kids can't wait. This will be the first time either of the snakes have shed since we got them. I think I will hold off on feeding him today, everything I have read says it's the best thing to do. He ate a nice sized rat pup last Saturday, so he should be fine.

Your children may be disappointed. Usually ball pythons shed during the night. Still cook to see the shed the next morning.

I think they are just excited to see the leftovers. We took them to an animal rehabilitation and education center not far from our home. They had skins from several dif species. The boys really thought it was neat. Their four and seven...it doesn't take much to thrill them. LOL

Hi, just a quick note. If the shed is all balled up and you want to stretch it back out for the kids (I have 5 kids, and they all want to keep the skins), you can put the skin in a plastic contained with a bit of hot water at the bottom, and put the lid on. The humidity will make the skin easy to unroll. Then you can hang it to let it dry. I have multiple 9 feet long sheds from my Boas, and the kids love to use them for show and tell at school.

Thanks for tip! My seven year old wanted to take a snake for show and tell, but I wan't real thrilled with the idea, fortunatly niether was the teacher. So this could be a great alternative!
