dremora acting scared of her food?! help please!

i put a mouse in her tank and all she will do is strike at it and not try to eat it, she can see, she has already shed and it was a complete shed, i even killed the mouse by smashing it on the table and putting it in the tank still twitching dripping blood from its ears and nose but she still strikes but wont eat. i am thinking of buying some pinkies today and see if she will eat them? do you think it would help?

No. I do not think it will help. If she's just striking at the food it means she doesn't want it and she's stressed out. STOP trying to feed her right now. She wants to be left alone. Striking and not constricting is a defensive act. She's not happy.

When you next feed her in a week get a frozen mouse, thaw it and warm it up very warm. Do this at night, and place it next to her or even on top of her and leave her alone in the dark the rest of the night. In the meantime make things and least stressful as possible; no touching, no looking unless absolutely nessicary. Move her tank into a room no one goes into, or cover it up completely. Do not push food on her, leave her alone somewhere dark and quiet.

SOunds like a stressed out snake yep. Ensure that al husbandry is correct & leave the snake alone except for cleaning & changing water. Do not handle it until it is feeding regularily again. Mark

thanks i was thinking you were gonna say that cause thats what the book says but i wanted a 2nd opinion. i will leave her alone then for a while. but when should i try ot feed her again? and should i use pinkies cause they will be small and easy to eat? or should i use a grown mouse like she usually eats and frozen and thawed like he said above? thanks for the great advice. i kinda knew that the striking meant she was stressed and didnt wanna eat but i had to have that 2nd opinon and you guys and gals in here really help me alot on knowing what to do with her husbandry.other than trying to feed her i HAVE been leaving her alone except to clean the cage and put fresh water in her bowl. usually if shes in her hide i just lift it out and put it on the table with her in it and just clean the cage and put it back. i havent been holding her if i can help it. i think alot of this may be from when she got out and we found her behind my bed after an hour of searching the apt.maybe that scared her. i dont know...thanks again

Feed her in a week. Keep with the same meal size.

Pinks are often too small, some snakes wont even bother with them because of it. From what I've seen balls prefer meals with a little fur.

Pinkies are not BP prey way too small. Most folks start them as babies on hoppers or bigger even. Sometimes live fuzzies for a meal or 2 first. Go with regular prey in around a week or so & then try once weekly after that, Mark
