Friends snake"Freak Incident"

My friend had a corn snake awhile back that died, right before it died though it bit itself on the neck.......and that was it...

Sorry but thats all the information I have about the snake...

Why did this happen?

somtimes when snakes die, they seem to somtimes be biting somthing. i have seen dead snakes latching on to leaves or what ever. never seen them latched on to themselves.

Off topic, but JD, that's gotta be one of the most distracting avatars on the site. Got something a little easier on the eyes?

i have seen dead snakes bite themselves, during their death throws. also, snakes dying of dehydration will bite themselves, i think they must be really disoriented. i am something of a rehabber, so i have seen this a number of times.
