i mostly feed my snakes out of their enclosures, in rubbermaids, so i dont need to use tongs (i put the prey in first then the snake). however, i do have a couple of pairs of hemostats which i find to be useful, and 18 and a smaller one. i dont know how much they cost tho, since i got them from a friend who is a doctor.

Where I volunteer they feed their big snakes (retics and burms) rabits that are around 10+ pounds. They just pick it up with two long snake hooks and it usually gets it like that. If not they just chuck it in.

I personally just use 18" hemostats.
