Why name snakes what's wrong with 1.0BCC#001 and 0.1BCC#001?
I name and give everyone ID #'s and I've never actually used the ID #'s when looking stuff up or recording things. Names are so much easier to remember... Why not do both - the snake won't care...

Why name snakes? Most people name their pets its a pretty common practice LOL If you are a breeder & treat them just as stock, then I feel for you because you obviously don't have much for feelings yourself. Despite having had literally hundreds of snakes before most all of them (not the hatchlings LOL) have had names. Female Ghost Corn #1 or #2 doesn't bring to mind an individual specimen, but lots of people out there are famililar with my girls "Lil Girl" & "Beauty". To each their own I guess, but despite being a breeder I am still very personal with my snakes, even those without official names. The day I start treating them as strickly breeding stock or investments I hope someone gives me a slap to snap me outta it LOL Mark

well I had a female brb named Rochelle that I found out was a male...his name is now Beau. (French for beautiful for all you non french speaking people)

My brother named my male and female clutchmate Cal kings Paris(male) and Kassandra(female) after the brother/sister in the Greek Troy myth...watch for the characters in the upcoming movie...Orlando Bloom plays Paris I think...

My new (used) mexican black king snake was once known as a female named Princess, then his owner found out he was a Prince not a Princess (I think....thats what I gathered from previous posts anyway) and I have changed his name to Oreno...named after Oren Ishii from Kill Bill Vol. 1.

Its fun to think of names and I may be personifying my snakes but it seems to me they have their own personalities...that would help explain why two snakes of the same species can have completely different dispostions (oooOOOooo big word).

my 2 cents...

Yness

Well you could name them, savanna and sabien. I knew twins that were named that, and it fit well together. It really just depends on what taste in names you have, what is your idea on "stupid names." I personally , usually just refer to a few of my snakes by their latin name or english name, but if i do educational programs for schools, i use given names so the children can comprehend better. Maybe try this site www.babynamescramble.com
