That's cute. All babies are cute.

What are you going to do with 55 chicks running around until your dad picks them up?

Friends of mine hatched a couple dozen chicks in the oven. With the oven light on, it was just the perfect temperature, and they could watch the hatching through the door window. (She never cooked anyways, so there was no problem with the stove being off limits the whole time)

Well, he lives here, so i don't have to worry about him taking his time in removing them. LOL, i already threatened to move them into my mom and his room cause they kept me up so late and then woke me up this morning at 5:30 by coming down to see if any had hatched..

Cool, hatching anything is pretty exciting. I hatched a bunch of button quails a while ago; they are absolutely adorable when they are babies, they would easily fit into a bottle cap. Now that they are fully grown, I wish one of my snakes would eat them just to shut them up.

Matt, do you have a heat lamp over them? I raised 25 in my house until they were big enough to go outside and I found that they chirp a lot more when they are hungry or cold.

I was just going to ask about the heat light thing.

Out here, in hickville, many people hatch chicken eggs. They "brood" the babies under a "brooding" light. Usually a 250 watt that is hung 3 feet over the floor. But maybe it is only for night, as it is usually done in a chicken coop (a small barn for chickens).

I nearly choked on my coffee when you said you had them set up in rubbermades. Like Linds said, "you know your a herper when".

That's wicked Matt! I was actually thinking of trying that when I settle down somewhere. I don't know if it's true, but somewhere I remember hearing in Ottawa you can have up to 3 chickens in your backyard if you're not a farm. I don't know what I'd do if a rooster popped out though cuz he'd wake the whole neighborhood up each morning.

Syco and Ryan.. Yes, they do have Heat Lamps now.. I took the one out of the rubbermaid yesterday and put him back into the incubator (cause it was warmer).. I now have 3 out of the egg all dried up and in a rubbermaid with a lamp on them, they're still chirping, but not as much.. Now i just have to move them somewhere else so i dont have to listen to them much longer.. LOL..
