Cheapest bulbs???

Where have you found the cheapest bulbs online??? I'm talking about the one for reptiles (night bulbs) I already use regular bulbs for the day time and i use special reptile bulbs for night and i'm looking to buy a case of night lights and a case of basking bulbs. I have a few of my own sites but was wondering if anyone else gets a better deal than me.

Thanks

Jamie

Hi Jamie!
After all your help I hope I can help you now The best night time bulbs I have found and use all the time are the heat lamps you find in home hardware stores like Home Depot. Go to the bulb section and look for Philips infrared heat lamps. They come in 50, 75, 100, and 250 watt. The box is mostly black with red and white writing. They last at least 2x longer than any reptile brand bulb and emit a constant, balanced heat source. I've even dropped them on the floor and they never seem to break, which is a plus because most of those reptile brand ones break if you look at them!

The same goes for Canada and the US Just look for Philips in Rona(canada) or Home Depot(u.s. and canada)

Julie, LOL i did that 2 weeks ago along with calling 4 or 5 lighting companies in my area. One of the companies put me on hold and called califonia(so he said). I live in st. louis, mo so it's a pretty big city. The only watts they carry are 125 and 250 uggg. I was so upset when i heard that. i can use the 125 on a most of my tanks but i really need a 50 and a 75. Plus i want to get a few for back ups so i don't have to run around when one burns out, like i do now. I guess i'll keep looking. Thanks for your help. Julie

Income tax time is coming soon so i'm going to try and stock up on most of my supplies to save me money thru the rest of the year incase of emergencies.

They tend to "explode" in my experiences. Seems they don't fare too well in reptile rooms. Not only that, but for the price I'll stick with infrareds.

Hey Jamie

Did you try places like Walmart? Often they carry those bulbs too. I've found that the lighting stores always carry to high of wattages. Also, call feed supply stores. They carry those bulbs for use with brooding(chickens...etc).

I completly forgot about checking feed stores. Thanks for that reminder. i'll give walmart a call after the holidays or maybe just stop in and check. I have 4 other home depots in my vicinity so maybe i'll call and check if they might carry them. Phillips should have a website. I'll go there. I like doing things the hard way can't you tell. LOL

HAHA this brings up my little story. When i went to home depot and was asking about the wattage and if they could see if the company makes smaller wattage bulbs, then they could order them and i would come pay and pick them up. The guy i was talking to kept giving me these strange looks. Then he finally asked if i was growing "special" plants. I was LMAO i had to tell him i had reptiles. I still don't think he belived me. Ahhh the stuff us herpers go through for our animals.

Hahaha, too funny! Reminds me of going to the "grow" store and asking for bricks of expandable coconut. They guy kept telling me I wouldn't like it because it molds and things don't grow as well in it. He kept giving me the "eye" and saying "you know, hydo is better". LMAO Then I told him I use it in my reptile cages and he stepped back a little......like I'm the one doing anything wrong here hehehe

I use heat emitters so I don't need a high watt lightbulb. I use the 25W *party bulbs* that you can find in your grocery store. It cost me under $3 (usd).
