Not that this has too much to do with the above link, but
will a large snake eat just parts of an animal..such as say,
a leg or internal organs?

Bunchers don't usually go for the ads that are asking for money. Even asking a small amount of money lessens the chance of a person like that answering the ad. For the ones that want to make money by selling the animals for lab use, bait, etc......its not worth it for them to pay for the animal............unfortunately being in rescue and working in the animal supply industry has exposed me to more than my share of these "people" (and I use that term loosely)................
Sarcasm is just one more service I offer.............

I recall seeing an ad in a local paper for someone looking for snakes, and the same phone # was looking to provide homes for rodents lol.
it was a while ago but I wonder if he got many responses.

pretty sad when people go around pretending to give a good home when all they're planning on using them for profit/food

Cat-lovers in Bergen, Norway, are being warned about snake-owners who are trawling newspaper ads looking for kittens to feed their to their snakes.
This is the part where everyone will get in the big debate lol

But yeah, those people are sicko's, people have to give away a PET, and this is how they're treated?

You beat me to it. Seems that the snake owners are being demonized again! hehe. Does anyone remember the 'kittens for feeders' debate a few months ago?

I do agree with the inherent 'bad idea-ness' of free to a good home ads. By giving the animals no value, of course you attract people who treat them that way. It seems like it's the ad-placer's choice, though, whether or not to place the ad--not something that should be regulated by newspapers. I'm sure there are plenty of free adoptions that turn out fine.

I've read similar articles like this and it is very sad to know that this stuff goes on... The problem is, it is usually not intentional.

Most people who choose to "give" away a pet for free do so with the thinking: "I would rather get this pet a good home than get money for it." This is a thought born out of caring but unfortunately also of ignorance of the reality that faces their pet. If they would know better, this wouldn't happen anymore.

So until these messages spread out about having a pet relocated, this will still go on a lot...

I'm not going to say that people should scoop up kittens under the false pretence of adopting a pet but... BUT if they would end up in the dumpster behind the Humane Society building then I don't see the harm in snakes getting a meal out of it. Not exactly the natural food chain but if the animal is doomed anyway who cares whether it ends up in a burm's belly or a garbage dump? Personally I wouldn't feed any of my snakes stray cats anyway for the very same reason I don't trap rodents to feed them; it's simply not safe for the snakes. Lord knows what diseases and parasites a stray cat may have. I don't have any more of a moral difficulty with feeding cats than rats though.
I feel a little light headed... maybe you should drive...
