Because he probably doesn't want to be bothered. Some snakes are a little aggressive after feeding so it's best to leave him alone. It also doesn't help to tap on the glass or make quick movements in front of the cage.

Another reason could be because he's hungry. What type of snake is it, how big is it, and what size rodents is it eating?

Good question Rachel,

What type of snake, and the size of it, also what size is the food your giving it, And how much are you giving it each feeding.

I agree with Rachel, anytime I have had a snappy kid, I simply gave it more food and the problem went away...real fast. I have also mentioned this before. I have had some snakes that tend to be more aggressive when their setups are in high traffic locations in the house. Try moving the tanks to a less used area of the house, if this is your situation. It worked for me

Ummm... yeah, knowing the type of snake would be most helpful. If it's an African Rock or a Blue beauty or something, the answer is a bit more obvious than if it's a corn or a boa.

You should, yea. Can you get frozen ones easily? I just breed my own.

Frozen/thawed is best. But if you can't get any that size, I recommend prekilled

as everyone else said this snake should be on rats, aproximately the same girth as the snake, i'd feed doubles till he fattens up a bit then switch to larger prey.
