i had a night off from a fishing boat i was working on,and decided to take my girlfriend at the time out for dinner,i went to the same area my truck had been parked for a week,in a small town(one of the one street, one block wide ones)to try out this place id seen when running down the dock at 4 am to jump on the boat.I was there for less than 2 hrs and when i came back someone had broken into my truck and stolen my new deck, and taken the time to take the change in my ashtray too.Luckily they didnt do much damage though.

On a good note, this is how I met my current girlfriend. Going on 6 years soon ( aint gettin hitched!!). Her car was stolen by her friends boyfriend while she was at work. He and his buddies made a few robberies and then burned the car out in the woods. She was in the process of moving, so all of her personal items were in the car...pffft. What luck eh? Only thing she got out of the deal was me...I feel bad for her worse now than before. To this day nobody has been "caught" or proven guilty, and she did get many "death threats" from the incident. These fellas did a bit of identity theft and other lucrative illegal acts that they were caught for in the end, as well as the robberies.

Because of all this she moved to AZ where she met me....

I had a Jeep TJ Soft Top that got broken into 6 times for assorted cigarettes, sunglasses and loose change. Then it got stolen for a Joy ride and came back damged, 5 G's later!! it was all fixed up and then two years ago, once again it got stolen, this time to be found stripped and torched in a farmers field east of Ottawa. I gave up, now I drive a P.O.S Pontiac Sunfire. A$$holes will be A$$holes.

Tx Jim ..

You made me feel better.. I drive a jeep in Ottawa.. ****.. now you'll make me paranoid lol

Heres what I did .. I have a good sound system in it so I decided that I am not getting it stolen .. theres is over 100 large bolts holding the speaker boxes to the frame.. after wich there is over 200 screws (many different types as well) holding wire meshing and wire gard over the speakers so that it makes it hard to steal.. Pop off face plate for the cs player and on top of that I have a car alarm wich is In my mind useless as all u need to do to steal a car is pop the hood and cut one wire.. 3 seconds of alarm .. that aint gonna stop anybody.. I also use the steering lock thing .. again .. they can remove it but its just such a pain in the *** that I think the robbers will simply go to the next one ..

Anyway .. my idea is that if it would take me over 3 hours to remove all the equipment out of the car .. it would take the the same and there better to go to the nect car to steal..

It had worked so far...

BUT I never ever ever lock my doors... Heres why - one alarm will go off if opened - but if someones wants to get in your truck they will - Id rather them open the door then break a window or scratch the paint .. door locks are a jk to get through as well..

Simply don't keep glasses or money in your car..

I was gonna make a new thread, but this IS a sob story...

I think I win hands down. My cousin was hit by a car saturday, is in the ICU in Hamilton in critical condition. Broken legs, arms, coloar bone, 2 punctured lungs, kidney damage, broken skull bone, lacerated shin with infection, is on artificial respiration. Sorry to be such a downer, but I'm just very down about all this... he's only 19 years old!
take care,

The Problem, Dom, isn't if they will take your Stereo..The problem is that they WILL simply take the Jeep and then remove the stereo at their own leisure. Chrysler ignitions are the easiest to override.. it just takes seconds and the pro will be driving away with your baby. Put a second switch on your ignition under the hood off the battery terminals and put hood locks on. That in my mind is the best way to keep a Jeep. Now they will have to flatbed tow the Jeep if they really want it.

Car thefts are hapenin' everywhere these days... if you own somethin' like a Neon, Sebring, or Intrepid ( notice the CHrysler trend ) NEVER EVER leave stuff in your car... a screwdriver is like a key... With older Neons you can just pull the window back and slip your arm in, a good alarm system is the best way to go, and park somewhere where ya think your car might not get stolen ( I know, thats almost no where, but it makes people feel comfortable )

We had a theory for years................have a kick-a$$ stereo system, but drive a crappy car. Theory being that the punks wouldn't suspect a nice system in such a sh!tbox. It worked for years..............worked so well that we got a false sense of security from the whole thing and didn't worry about taking the faceplate off at night. Well low and behold, someone decided to check out the crappy Neon one night..............the whole system was gone in the morning, amp everything. They were polite enough to only take the money out of my hubby wallet that was in the car, they left his ID and credit cards (maxxed out
So now we are still driving the crappiest car known to man, with a replacement system and a new alarm system..............point to my story???????????? I have a crappy car.............(heehee)
Sarcasm is just one more service I offer.............

When I was a kid someone stole my parents' van. It broke down a block down the road so they had to ditch it in the middle of the road and steal another one.

Now 100% herp free!
