The New Ontario Cirriculum Is A Pile Of Bull ****

I have a 87 in biology ... for anyone who knows the the new cirriculum, you have separate mark for KU, A, COMM, MC etc etc .... well i got a 96, 94, 89 and 50 ... the 50 was a mark out of 2, and i got 1 out of two .. those 2 marks however are worth 10% of my mark ... so where i got a 91%, straight marks over possible marks, the 1 lost mark (worth 10 percent) brought my mark down 4% ... how ARRRRRGH

ya crap like that sux but life aint fair. we used to have a teacher who man every assignment worth the same cause final grade was easier to calculate(english teachers). that meant a 10 page essay you spent a week on was worth the same as a 2 question 5min quiz

AND I am the most competent worker in my office, bust my a$$, know my sh** and only get a 4% raise. C'est la vie. Deal with it.

Who's your teacher? I probably know him - lol. From a teacher's perspective, I think it is unfair as well. One question should not drop your marks like that. Maybe speak to your classmates and see how they feel. Maybe several of you can approach the teacher and ask him/her to reconsider and explain how one question wrong drops your mark by 4% is unfair. You seem a like s good sudents who works hard and care about his marks. Good luck.

Cheers,
JJ

School is a joke. Keep your average at a half decent level to get into your post secondary studies and never look back.

I'm sorry, but I find this hillarious. You would have to have a pretty swank job to be as well off as you are in high school. Wait until you are in university and each week is 20 hours of class, 20 hours of school work, 20+ hours of work to pay for it all and doing all your own house repairs etc. etc. on top of it. That is basically my life right now -- but I tasted the real world before going back to university and I consider my life pretty layed back.

As for the cirriculum, weighted averages are going to be your reality if you do anything post-secondary. My only question would be whether it was possible to get, say, 1.5/2 on the assignment. If not, then that seems a bit unfair. If it was possible to get partial marks then it seems entirely fair to me.

Cheers,
Dave

I would just talk to your teacher. That happened to me once in high school and I offered to do an extra assignment to make up for it. ( The assignment was to catch sunfish to use for disection).

Dank7oo....ahhhh yess....the new system! Isnt it great LOL I graduated last year!! What school do you go to? (im in ottawa too)....i was part of the old and new system... actully my year was the "guinea pigs" for the new system....It is a really big change and its like cramming another grade into every year because they have knocked out OAC. I think it will get better later on in a few years but for now you have to understand that this change is not only new to the students but for the teachers as well. I dont know about you but my teachers use to complain about the new system about as much as we did. I agree I think if you just took your teacher aside, they're usally pretty good for giving other assignments or adding another one in and splitting the marks....Good luck!

Wait til you hit the job market and you will see promotions and raises go to some one else who doesn't work as hard as you due to favourtism, etc.

Boy are you LUCKY! I wish I was outta this messed up torture they like to call school. My teachers all hate the new marking systems, and quite frankly I cant blame them.

as for my 'swank' job .. i quite because the 4 hour minmum shift made it so finishing homework was impossible, unless of course i wanted to go to sleep at 1 ...

and yes .. to all you life livers ... i am dealing with it in my own way .. MUAHAHA - LMAO

Lucky? HAH! thats what i thought untill it hit me what actully happend.....as much as the new system sucks....I still WISH i was in my high school! Graduating was a blast but.....wow you realize VERY fast that high school was a joke...you work so many years for a sheet of paper...then you walk out into the real world when you have to get your self a stable job or go into college or uni! Its not easy. Trust me. Try to complain as little as possible about your high school years.....it only gets harder after that. Good luck!
