Question Hairless Rat??

Hi....We went to the Totally Pets Show, and bought a male hairless rat for 10 bucks. We didn't pay too much close attention to him besides feeding etc. Today we opened the cage to take him out, and discovered that he has a full fluffy body of hair?? Is that at all normal?? *LOL*
Give me your opinions...

I think the hairless rats have "downy" coat on them.

lol! Maybe you toked a bit too much and got a long haired rat instead!

lol, I have no idea tho... did you pick up the right rat? I don't think 1" of fur could grow in one week, could it? Or has it been 2 weeks?

if it was a cross, that may be the reason it grew long hair, and if so, it should be able to produce hairless babies when bred to another hairless rat

hairless rats for snake food! I had a couple as pets, totally sweet....they are also man made...... scientests messed with their DNA or something.....they are supposed to be like Mentally Re----Tar----Ded ( it stared out the word! like--->***<---that!) or something. Don't remember where I seen that....don't know if it's true......thats only what I heard.........to bad you weren't in the states. I would probably pick up a baby for a pet!

Hairless rats look cool, but it does sound like they shaved art then sold it to you...poor rat, that must suck.

Country:
Maybe they sold you a mock hairless (aka Double Rex). When Rex genes are crossed they produce a baby rex rat that at some point loses much of its coat, although it is usually quite patchy, and then grows it back. Still doesn't sound the case but still a thought.
