In Canada they offer programs that teach you how to ride, teach you safety, even some minor maintenance & will get you your license through them as well (unless you are really totally unteachable!). Call your local DMV to see what ones are available in your area. They are similar to the high school Drivers' Ed programs & will also help with the cost of insurance on your bike. I highly recommend them. I took one even after learning to ride with my father who was a motor cycle policeman & after having grown up riding with him. They are well worth the money which is about $300.00 down here in my area. You get your fee back in saved insurance costs often in the first couple of years.

P.S. Most supply the bikes to learn on as well so you don't need your own for the course.

Here are some pics of the bikes i was looking at but i think im going to go with the SV 650, it looks sporty and its a hell of a lot cheaper than the GSX R 600 on insurance.
This is the GSX R 600

This is the SV 650

Tell me what you think!!

Thanks
-Steve-

I want my bike liscence pretty badly. Hopefully when I get a bike, it'll be a Harley Softail.
