Blonde jokes illegal in Bosnia

Hmm... what about redhead jokes?

What do you get when you mix a redhead, a battery and potato chips?

A redhead who's Eveready and Frito-Lay.

Blonde jokes to be made illegal in Bosnia

Blonde jokes are set to be made illegal in Bosnia under new laws that will enable women to sue people who make jokes about their hair colour. The gender equality law, due to come into effect within the next two months, will make it an offence to tell jokes about women based on their hair colour.

Savima Terzic, director of the International Group for Human Rights, told Bosnian daily newspaper Nezavisne Novine: “The new law on gender equality would enable blonde women to sue anyone who tells jokes that offend them, even if those jokes were just based on the colour of their hair.” Blonde jokes are said to be massively popular in Bosnia.

I am blonde myself and the first one to tell some blonde jokes!

When will people start putting their energies to more constructive uses???

People need to remember what's really important in life. Is a "blonde joke" really something to get that upset about?

So not suprising. People can't handle anything anymore and they hate when someone does something they don't agree with. Its ridiculous.

Yes ever here of the domino effect is the banning of reptiles really anything to be upset about? Once you give up one piece of your freedom the rest of it will follow if you dont stop it

To me, banning the ownership of something is alot different than banning jokes. Should we ban all jokes someone might find distasteful whether it is based on hair color, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, occupation, political views, financial situation, make of vehicle you own, area you live in, etc.? Many blonde jokes I have heard could be easily altered to target other groups by replacing the word blonde with another hair color, gender, or a person's heritage. Humor has and always will be controversial - what some people find humorous, others find offensive, it depends on your point of view. IMO, society is becoming far too letigious (sp?). If you could sue over jokes based on hair color, it wouldn't be long before you could sue over jokes about all the above mentioned things. That scares me. There are people out there that want to make a quick buck and could pretend to be offended by just about any joke.

A ban on reptiles is more than something verbal. It is taking away something you already own or preventing you from owning something you wish to own. Some reptile owners see their herps as pets and have an emotional bond with them. For other's it's a way of earning money promoting something they enjoy. My point is, is that in real life your feelings are going to be hurt, and you will be insulted and offended many times before you die. The world can't go around walking on egg shells or being afraid to say anything lest someone finds it offensive and sues them.

One final thought: Taking away someone's right to tell a joke, even if it is in bad taste, is infringing on their freedoms. While I understand being upset if you are the target of a joke, I think legal action is taking it too far.

The way I was intending to compare them was both can be in your home

Maybe anti-reptile people feel that they shouldnt be forced to live in the same neighbor hood as these "slimy diease ridden creatures" they are offensive to them quite possibly

Taking away someones right to speak what they feel is Worse then taking away someones right to own something IMO

People make money off blonde jokes I bet someone makes a book with only blonde jokes they enjoy telling them or they wouldnt do it
basicly when its all broken down to the bones the 2 things are very simular IMO
