The Omen,

YOU now have the moral AND legal obligation to get these animals to a vet, no matter the cost

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there was never a law passed to obliged us to take our pets to the vet. As long as humanity considers pets to be objects to the owners, we will have problems with that. I spent 750$ on vet bills for a roughneck who still died in the end. If I had to do it again, I would, only would try to spend the money on a vet who knows his stuff.

Siretsap - actually, there are plenty of laws enforcing this. While they dont say "you need to take your pet to a vet if its sick", allowing a sickness to progress (if it causes the animal pain) or to neglect it's sickness (again, if it causes suffering) IS against the law.

Umm guys.. look at Audios location... he ain't in canada.

And Audio,
Sorry to have sounded gruff on the subject of the vets and neglect as it sounded like you weren't wanting to take them.
Seen that too many times, and yes, although the laws on pets/livestock are set up for the fuzzy, people can still be charged with neglect and cruelty for ANY animal in NC, whether it be a wild animal or a non-indegionous import.

Trust me, I have seen reptiles being held at the local shelter, non-adoptable, pending the outcome of their owners 'neglect/abuse' case in court.
