Scent and water

Since scent is a very important sense for snakes to find food, where does that leave Sea Snakes? Can they smell things under water? If so, how?

The tongue literally picks up "scent particles" from the environment and transfers them to the Jacobson's organ in the roof of the mouth. No reason this wouldn't work just as well under water as it would in air. Especially since they are always in the water they would be quite able to filter out what was 'normal' and what was a different scent/taste. Its not like they have to worry about getting water up their nose like we do.

There is a fine line between a hobby and a mental illness.

I have a video taped on snakes from discovery channel. It states that a snakes sense of smell is just as good under water, possibly even better.
