Question Boa or Python?

If I have to decide between a Kenyan Sand Boa and a Ball Python as a beginner's snake, which would be a better choice?
Thanks!

Re: Boa or Python?

They are both fairly easy to care for.....really depends on your personal preference.

Sand Boas stay a lot smaller....so if size and issue go that rout, otherwise either of them are equally interesting and easy to care for snakes.

Ive had both and in my experience, the ball python was more exciting because he got bigger.

I keep and breed both and they are a lot of fun so get one of each !!! lol the only draw back with the sand boa's are they like to stay under grown till knight fall and balls can be a pain with not liking to feed all the time so they both have there pros and cons .go with what you like more .just my 0.02 worth

Re: Boa or Python?

It is a personal preference. I would choose the boa because I am a boa guy but it doesn't matter what any of us think. What do you think you would be more comfortable with and get the most enjoyment out of.

If you are talking about common/columbian boas they will get longer and thicker then the ball pythons.

Re: Boa or Python?

Like ffollett said, it's ultimately your choice. They are both fantastic snakes. My personal choice would be a nice Kenyan. You will never have trouble finding either of these snakes, however, I think one is a little more common than the other..... spend some time if you can with each type of snake, ( Im not saying you have not already done this ) and you will be able to choose with a bit more ease. There are some spectacular specimens of both species to choose from!!! Good Luck!!
