Every single one of them fly south to Mexico to a very small locale, and unfortunately millions of them froze to death a couple years ago in a rare freezing spell in the trees they stay in after the long journey.
They are struggling to make a comeback and it will be years before their numbers increase.
They feed only on milkweed
